Feminist film festival sparks conversation

Murmuring and inquisitive thoughts and conversations died as the lights dimmed and the first film in this year's F-Word Film Festival, a festival aimed at raising awareness for feminine issues, lit up the tiny Humanities Lecture Hall. "Most people are ignorant of these issues and ignorant of what feminism is," said Lori Horvitz, literature and women's studies associate professor.

Underground music rises to the surface

Harvest Records, a record store in West Asheville, will present five promising concerts this spring, including notable live acts at the Fine Arts Theatre, The Grey Eagle and Harvest Records. Harvest is known for booking underground music not only in their record store, but in quality Asheville music venues and coffee shops.
